The Information Technology Services’ Project Management Office (PMO) is a group of project management and business analyst professionals that deliver innovative, responsive and cost effective business and technology solutions for a wide range of government services. The PMO is looking for individual with project management experience to lead and manage the IT infrastructure related projects and initiatives, which include design review of the network component of new and renovated buildings; setup of the network connectivity for building security, building automation, smart building devices, and Internet of Things; work with network techniques to deliver network data infrastructure related projects; develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to operationalize the deliverables of projects.
Reporting to the IT Services PMO, you will:
•Manage all aspects of network connectivity projects (initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control, close and operationalize)
•Manage project planning and control including: estimating and planning specific tasks; providing direction, guidance and technical support to staff; assigning tasks with reasonable deadlines; and ensuring adherence to schedules.
•Co-ordinate specific assigned systems development and implementation activities, from the preparation of user requirement definitions, systems analysis, general & detail design documents, to development prototyping and implementation.
•Be responsible for the evaluation, selection and acquisition of hardware, software, and vendor resources while adhering to budget plans.
•Responsible for providing leadership and guidance to more junior positions.
•Perform other duties as required to meet departmental objectives including scheduled and emergency tasks beyond normal business hours.
•Successful completion of a Community College Diploma program in Information Technology or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Minimum five (5) years’ experience in information systems project implementation and support for functional area(s) assigned such as finance, human resources, health, social services, transportation or planning and corporate based processes
•Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including communication, innovation, teamwork and collaboration, and personal ownership.
•Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in assessing application technology and end user needs and recommending appropriate solutions.
•Knowledge of the application development cycle.
•Knowledge of trends in the use of current information technology.
•Project management, presentation, problem solving, and team leadership skills.
•Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment and discretion.
•Ability to work outside regular business hours on standby and otherwise as required.
•Satisfactory Police Criminal Background Check
•Valid Ontario Class G driver’s license and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
