Position Purpose

Reporting to the Manager, IAM Business Solutions and working with stakeholders and subject matter experts, is responsible for providing recommendations on sharing business information, including records, consistently across the Region including identifying, developing and implementing information management capabilities (e.g. disposition) for information systems (e.g. Enterprise Content Management systems) to enhance the relationship among business context, content and users; assessing and improving the logical structure, taxonomies, metadata schemas, and search and navigation functions used by the Region’s information systems; and, improving the usability of information systems and the end-user experience by developing and defining information models (e.g. metadata-based searching vs folder browsing) and aligning them with the Region’s enterprise architecture so that current and future needs of the Region will be met in an efficient, sustainable, agile, and adaptable manner.

Major Responsibilities

•Understands, analyzes, and identifies the evolution of the Region’s information management environment in order to anticipate client needs and to enable successful business solutions.
•Provides functional expertise in providing support to the Manager in resolving barriers to change or to the attainment of information management objectives by identifying innovative solutions and by recommending new approaches for information management services to provide clients with the necessary tools to implement change and achieve objectives.
•Partners with stakeholders and conducts detailed analysis of information management capabilities and information management architecture requirements within and across information systems and develops standards in alignment with enterprise architecture.
•Performs content audits to enhance the speed by which content is accessed by business users and to identify the variety of content within the Region’s information systems.
•Identifies and remedies any gaps identified by content audits and gathers requirements for content creation and generation by business users.
•Develops content organization and business rules by identifying relationships between content, and creating consistent metadata schemas to be applied to content and provide it with context.
•Produces artifacts and deliverables including designs, analysis of requirements, solution capabilities, and participates in assessments of technology selection, and design configuration of information systems.
•Provides input and feedback on relevant information management and technology policies, standards, and guidelines.
•Monitors quality, compliance and system activity levels, to identify and diagnose issues, develops, maintains and revises procedures, guidelines, and other tools to aid in the adoption and use of information systems.
•Participates and provides information management expertise in the development of policies, standards, and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation, and use of information systems within the enterprise.
•Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.


•Successful completion of a University Degree in Library Studies or Information Science or related field or an approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Minimum five (5) years experience as Information or Data Architect or similar position and/or capacity
•Demonstrated experience, knowledge and skills in all aspects of information architecture, including planning, related applications, technologies, tools, methodologies and trends.
•Comprehensive understanding of client and user information management requirements and experience in developing detailed plans for large scale and complex information architecture projects in project/multi-client environments
•Ability to develop performance measures for information architecture evaluations and to conduct montoring and reporting activities.
