Reporting to the Supervisor, Strategic Department Communications, promotes existing and future programs and services; develops marketing plans for the Department; develops and promotes relevant educational resources; and liaises with the media to promote Public Health and other programs and services of the Department.
•Successful completion of a University degree in Health, Health Promotion, Communication or a related discipline with strong emphasis on marketing and program development or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Minimum one (1) year experience in developing, implementing and evaluating community wide initiatives and programs using demonstrated skills in marketing and communications.
•Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s license and reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
•Demonstrated experience in writing grant proposals, adult education and teaching strategies including responsibilities for media relations activities.
•Thorough knowledge of current health and human services issues and principles.
•Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self-management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
•Computer literacy in a Windows environment utilizing Microsoft applications including word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, database software and desktop publishing.
•Demonstrated skills in media relations, marketing and program development.
•Presentation skills to deliver information to diverse audiences.
•Demonstrated initiative and creativity to plan and develop marketing and promotional strategies.
•Ability to write, critique and edit materials to effectively market information to targeted audiences.
•Ability to work effectively independently and cooperatively within a team environment.
•Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.
