Position Purpose

Reporting to Supervisor, Financial Reporting, is responsible for: a variety of assigned financial and accounting duties to support financial administration for the entire Region, including financial reporting and analysis, accounting and internal control functions, financial program administration, analysis and testing of data and associated systems, and financial policy and procedure development; analysis of financial, economic, policy and legislative development to support the formulation of recommended strategies to ensure achievement of various program objectives that impact the entire Region; development and implementation of assigned strategic initiatives; liaison with various stakeholders; and development and presentation of various materials to communicate financial and policy analysis and advice.

Qualifications

•Successful completion of a University Degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or related discipline.
•Successful completion of the Chartered Professional Accountant - Professional Education Program (CPA-PEP) or equivalent training.
•Successful completion of the Chartered Professional Accountant - Common Final Examination (CPA-CFE) or equivalent.
•Minimum three (3) years’ financial and accounting experience, including financial analysis, accounting transactions, and policy and procedure development.
•Knowledge of generally accepted auditing practices and principles, accounting principles, consolidations, finance, and budgeting principles and practices.
•Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, and regulations, including federal and provincial statutes.
•Knowledge of and experience with financial computer applications, including large-scale Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
•Experience in working within a large, multi-divisional organization with various lines of business.
•Strong proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database applications, including Microsoft suite of products; advanced MS excel skills.
•Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including communication, innovation, teamwork and collaboration, customer service, and personal ownership.
•Attention to detail and accuracy, along with strong organizational and planning skills.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey technical information to a wide range of audiences.
•Strong research, analytical and problem solving skills.
•Ability to identify areas for constructive change and process improvement and communicate potential solutions to management.
•Ability to travel to off-site locations in a timely and efficient manner, as required.
•Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required.

Salary
