Nurse Practitioner - Wound Skin Care Consultant
Temporary assignment for approximately 20 weeks
The Nurse Practitioner – RN (EC) functions as a member of an integrated interdisciplinary health care team in the provision of specialty skin and wound care services for the clients, using advanced nursing knowledge, skill, clinical reasoning, problem-solving and critical thinking. The Nurse Practitioner – RN (EC), utilizing the full scope of RN (EC) practice, provides services to clients who include the individual throughout the lifespan, the family, and the community, with a strong emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention.
The Nurse Practitioner will hold the following roles:
•Clinician – Provide clinical care to inpatients and outpatients
•Educator – Develop, implement and evaluate hospital wide skin and wound care education for all nursing staff.
•Administrator – Program development for inpatient and outpatient programs
•Researcher – Knowledge and implementation of current evidence based practice and best practice guidelines
•Completion of an educational program for Actue/Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioners
•RNAO membership preferred
•Masters Degree in Nursing required
•Proof of successful completion of controlled substances education required
•Registration in the Extended Class with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
•Graduate of the International Interdisciplinary Wound Care Course (IIWCC) through the University of Toronto or Advanced Wound Care program preferred
•Eligible for credentialing through the hospital medical board
•Demonstrated expertise in Wound Care
•Comprehensive knowledge of best practices in wound care
•Proven management and leadership skills
•Strong organizational, analytical, conceptual and communication skills
•Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills
•Commitment to the mission, vision, goals and values of St. Joseph’s Healthcare
•Must have an excellent attendance record
•Proven success in providing inspirational leadership in a team environment and ability to encourage innovation and creativity amongst team members
HOURS OF WORK:
Monday to Friday; days
