Hiring Range:$163,626 – $173,852 (commensurate with experience)

Reporting to the Vice President Finance and Administration (“VP”), the Associate Vice President, Business Services (“AVP”), provides strategic leadership, guidance, and direction to a multi-faceted portfolio of services that support the Sheridan community and play an important role in the quality of campus life. This position takes a forward-thinking approach to enhancing Sheridan’s procurement systems and ancillary services and plays a key role in supporting Sheridan’s strategic priorities, including financial sustainability (revenue generation, productivity, hard-cost savings, and strategic procurement) and enriching the student experience. The AVP requires expert negotiation skills to oversee and manage Sheridan’s major ancillary service contracts. The role will also be a resource and advisor to Sheridan leaders (and Board when required), providing expertise, strategies, and oversight for major improvement initiatives and projects.

 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Serving as a key advisor to Sheridan leaders with regard to procurement and ancillary services
  • Actively participating with other senior leaders in the provision of pan-institutional leadership, strategic planning, policies, and operational decision making
  • Investigating and determining new opportunities for revenue generating ancillary service activities
  • Identifying and implementing operational improvements to reduce costs, increase service levels, and improve efficiencies
  • Supporting strategic and financial objectives by developing long term supply chain strategies
  • Leading the procurement services and ancillary service business units in setting strategic objective to optimize revenues and expenditures in a student-focused culture; Ancillary units include: Residence, Food Services, Bookstore, Printing & Document Solutions, Parking and Sustainable Transportation Services, One Card Services, Conference Services and Mailroom
  • Developing appropriate policies, procedures and processes to further Sheridan’s vision and priorities
  • Aligning and integrating the work of various departments and providing leadership and mentorship to staff
  • Ensuring effective and efficient allocation of fiscal and physical resources within the portfolio
  • Connecting and cultivating ongoing internal and external strategic collaborations to support Sheridan’s portfolio initiatives, strategic goals, and to enhance the reputation of Sheridan and its programs locally, nationally and globally
  • Other responsibilities and special projects as assigned

 

Qualifications:

 

The Successful candidate will possess a Master’s degree in Business (or a related field) along with a minimum of 7 years of previous job related experience is required (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience). A Professional Designation as Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO) or Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) (or actively in progress) or equivalent standing is preferred. A minimum of 12 years of broad and deep management experience is required, along with highly developed and innovative leadership experience, preferably in a post-secondary setting. Extensive experience in achieving collaborative results in a multi-stakeholder environment and considerable knowledge and strong prior experience as a lead negotiator. The successful candidate will have experience at a senior level in strategy and people building, operational planning and implementation. Project management and change leadership skills are required. The successful incumbent will be able to manage high volumes of work with competing priorities and time constraints. The successful candidate will also have strong business acumen, with proven skills in the development, implementation and ongoing management of new initiatives.
