|Title||Professor, Aviation - ATPL+Flight Instructor Rating|

|Position Overview||Reporting to the Chair, School of Aviation and located at the Peterborough Aviation Campus, the Professor will work in an educational environment delivering integrated academics and flight training as part of the Bachelor of Aviation Technology program. The Professor will be responsible for providing academic leadership and developing an effective learning environment for students through designing, developing, revising and delivering curricula for aviation programs. |
|Responsibilities||Specific activities and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following.|
•Provide flight instruction towards PPL, CPL, ME Rating, and Instrument Rating
•Provide preparatory ground instruction
•Provide simulator instruction in approved flight training devices
•Provide classroom instruction in aviation specific courses
•Evaluate student performance
•Supervise and mentor junior instructors
•Participate in the development and maintenance of academic and flight training curriculum
•Participate in program monitoring activities
•Participate in committees
•Support student recruitment, student retention, and industry outreach initiatives
•Provide academic and career counselling to students
•Participate in applied research activities
•Perform administrative tasks related to academic and flight training duties
•Act as Authorized Person (if so qualified)
•Act as Pilot Examiner (if so qualified)
|Qualifications||Candidates shall provide evidence or documentation to confirm that they have the following qualifications, competencies and experience.|
•Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL)
•Valid Class 1 or Class 2 Flight Instructor Rating
•Valid Transport Canada Category 1 Medical Certificate
•Valid Group 1 Instrument Rating
•Minimum 5 years’ teaching or instructing experience at the post-secondary level or equivalent
•Multi-engine and instrument instructing experience
•Relevant industry experience (airline or military) in the practical application of the concepts being taught
•Highly organized and able to work independently and collaboratively
•Excellent communication, leadership and human relation skills
•Understanding of and commitment to education equity
•The ability to convey the conceptual and practical applications of aviation subjects to students
•Secondary school graduation is required
•A relevant earned degree at the Bachelors or Masters level is desirable but not essential
•Experience as Pilot Examiner and/or Check Pilot is desirable but not essential
