Description of Duties: 

Inspects, verifies, and analyzes light rail transit vehicles and infrastructure maintenance/repair work, new vehicles, and related operational issues, to ensure products and work meet project agreement specifications and quality assurance standards

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: 

•Knowledge of inspection, surveying, design/drafting, construction specifications, interpretation of contract drawings, and engineering systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical), acquired through a 3-year college diploma in engineering plus 3 years of related experience (or equivalent combination of higher education and lower experience).
•Must have or be eligible for membership in the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT), at the technologist level or equivalent.
•Knowledge of and ability to comply with corporate policies, procedures, and related legislation and standards (e.g., health and safety).
•Analytical, research, and organizational skills to verify and ensure project work meets contract and design specifications; analyze transit system operational issues to identify cause and develop solutions; maintain project records; work independently, and meet project timelines. 
•Communication and human relations skills to discuss project specifications, issues, and requirements with contractors using technical terminology, including probing for information; present data and recommendations to management; and participate as an effective team member.
•Ability to read and interpret technical documents including contract drawings, manuals, and specifications. Ability to take/maintain clear and detailed records related to project work, including photos and drawings; and write/prepare reports and correspondence.
•Computer skills with ability to use software such as Microsoft Office.
•Ability to travel within Waterloo Region.
•Ability to support and demonstrate the Region’s values.
