Salary: $80,007.20 - $100,009.00 per annum/$43.96 - $54.95 per hour

Description of Duties:

Coordinates and develops training and educational programs for the Division to ensure compliance with legislation, and to support staff performance and competency.  Coordinates nursing and personal care student placements and student preceptorship programs.  Backs up the Infection Control Coordinator and other management/management support positions as required.


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:  

•Knowledge of adult learning processes, practices and techniques; the aging process and needs of persons living in long-term care; dementia care and responsive behaviour methods and approaches (e.g., Gentle Persuasive Approaches, U-First, PIECES); and infection control, normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or a related field and a Certificate of Competence from the Ontario College of Nurses, plus experience coordinating education in a health care facility/setting.
•Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies, procedures, related legislation (e.g., long-term care, privacy and consents, regulated health professionals, health and safety), and collective agreements.
•Research, planning, organizational, evaluation, and continuous improvement skills to coordinate staff activities, achieve established goals and objectives, and audit programs; conduct needs analysis, data collection, planning, and evaluation; research, prepare, and conduct education sessions for staff; and evaluate programs ongoing.
•Human relations, leadership, and facilitation skills to mentor, advise, and supervise staff; develop and conduct group training sessions; assess the needs and comprehension levels of participants; address performance issues; and participate as an effective team member.
•Ability to write course curriculum, memos, reports, and proposals, and develop policies and procedures. Ability to review professional journals, books, reports, and policies and procedures to remain current. 
•Computer skills with ability to use software such as Microsoft Office, documentation systems (e.g., Point Click Care), web-based learning systems (e.g., surge learning), and audio-visual equipment.
•A tuberculosis (TB) test and annual influenza immunization are required.
•Must provide an acceptable Police Vulnerable Sector Check (Level 3).
•Ability to participate in an official standby/on-call rotation to respond to legislated or time sensitive demands beyond regularly scheduled work hours.
•Ability to work flexible hours to accommodate training for different shifts. Ability to work variable shifts, including evenings, holidays and weekends, as required.
•Ability to travel within Waterloo Region. 
•Ability to support and demonstrate the Region’s values.
