General Duty (Dietary)

                            11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. 
                            Food Services Pattern: Week 1:  Mon, Sat;
                                                                  Week 2:  Sun, Thurs.

Grade:  2
Wage:  $20.93 – $22.20 per hour
Location:  Sunnyside Home, 247 Franklin St N., Kitchener
Closing Date:  October 29, 2020 9:00 a.m.


Description of Duties:  

Transports hot food wagons to/from dining areas, and plates/portions food for tenants; cleans/sanitizes pots and other kitchen equipment; and de-cases/pulls supplies for storage. Assists Cook with food preparation (e.g., mincing, grinding).  Ability to work shifts, weekends, and on statutory holidays, as scheduled.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:   

•Knowledge of reading, writing, math, food preparation skills, and safe food handling practices, acquired through a Grade 12 education, completion/enrollment in a food services program (e.g., food service worker certificate, cook certificate, food and nutrition diploma), current Safe Food Handling Certificate, plus related experience (or equivalent combination of education/certification and experience).
•Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
•Knowledge of Regional and Divisional policies, procedures, and guidelines.
•A tuberculosis (TB) test and annual influenza immunization are required.
•Communication and interpersonal skills to respond pleasantly and professionally to demands; interact with staff, residents, tenants, and families and have a basic understanding of the geriatric population; and participate as an effective team member.
•Ability to read menus, meeting minutes, safety and quality assurance forms, policy and procedures manuals. Ability to write supply lists and complete forms for safety and quality assurance audits.
•Ability to work shifts, weekend hours, and statutory holidays, as scheduled.
•Must provide an acceptable Police Vulnerable Sector Check (level 3).
•Ability to support and project the Region’s values.
