Job Description

The principle responsibilities of the Hospitality Food Service Worker include:

  • Provides courteous, friendly, customer service to patrons
  • Serves and prepares food and beverages for customers; sets up retail food service area as needed
  • Handles cash transactions and reconciles cash deposits as assigned
  • Follows established standards of food and beverage preparation, assembly and merchandising
  • Maintains established sanitation and safety standards on all equipment and service areas
  • Ensures safe operation, maintenance and cleanliness of all other related equipment
  • Maintains a clean work area while following proper food handling and sanitation procedures including HACCP
  • Demonstrates MSH’s core expectations of employee conduct; includes attending relevant continuing education sessions, following all Hospital and Departmental policies and procedures, complying with applicable Health and Safety standards and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
  • Other related duties as assigned
Job Requirements
  • Successful completion of high school diploma
  • 1 year of recent customer service experience
  • 1 year of recent experience with demonstrated cash handling abilities
  • Successful completion of the Food Handlers course and WHIMIS required during probationary period (training will be provided by Mount Sinai Hospital)
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position in order to perform the essential duties of the position which requires bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods of time as required
  • Excellent public relations skills, pleasant, polite and efficient
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service
  • Demonstrated initiative and good judgement with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work independently and as a team  player in both a challenging and changing environment
  • Ability to communicate and read using English in order to effectively perform the essential requirements of this position
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
