REGISTERED MEDICAL LABORATORY TECHNOLOGIST
DAY/EVENING/NIGHT/WEEKEND SCHEDULE; 8 hour shifts (Subject to change)

SALARY: $32.43 - $43.46 per hour
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performing routine and specialized test procedures in Chemistry, Hematology and Blood Bank; organizing workflow to maintain performance standards of quantity and quality; observing, troubleshooting and reporting problems with methods, equipment to the Supervisor; ensuring cleanliness of equipment and of immediate work area; following established safety and infection control procedures; participating in student/staff training programs, as required; and performing other duties as assigned.
Certification with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Sciences (CSMLS);
Current registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario (CMLTO);
Current theoretical and technical knowledge in Hematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry;
In-depth knowledge of techniques, principles and instruments and their interrelationships;
Strong working and technical knowledge of the electronic and/or mechanical equipment necessary to perform routine and specialized testing;
Proven problem solving skills, with the ability to recognize problems, identify the cause, create alternatives and determine solutions;
Effective communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to exercise independent judgement, deductive reasoning with attention to detail;
Ability to effectively work under pressure in emergency situations;
Proven organizational skills with the ability to assess requests and prioritize them to ensure good and prompt patient care;
Physically capable of performing bending, lifting, turning frequently throughout the shift to accomplish tasks;
Recent experience in a Core Laboratory, preferred;

Must have a satisfactory performance record;
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to Lakeridge Health’s comprehensive safety programs and practices including staff safety, patient safety and environmental safety and participation in regular in-service education sessions;and
Proven good attendance record with capabilities of maintaining this same standard.
