Grand River Hospital and St. Mary’s General Hospital are two separately governed hospitals that function as an integrated system with well-defined and complementary clinical programs to serve both the local community and the region. Each hospital has acute care ED services with patient volumes reaching approximately 55,000 visits/annum. St. Mary’s General Hospital is a Regional Cardiac Care Centre and a Centre of Excellence for Respiratory and Thoracic Care. Grand River Hospital hosts several regional programs including the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre, Hepatobiliary Surgery, and stroke, renal, pediatric and mental health programs.
The internal medicine program is represented by specialists in cardiology, critical care, endocrinology, gastroenterology, general internal medicine, geriatrics, hematology, infectious diseases, medical oncology, nephrology, neurology, respirology. Additionally, there is a special testing unit made up of six labs providing a variety of cardio-respiratory and neurology tests. EMG testing is also performed on site.
Grand River Hospital is a partner in the Waterloo Wellington Integrated Stroke Program, which includes a number of health providers. The hospital provides emergency care, acute care after a stroke, and rehabilitation to restore function and quality of life.
In this position you would be joining our current group of 2 neurologists and your duties will include inpatient consult service, on-call coverage, as well as maintaining an outpatient clinic. In this position you will also have the opportunity to teach medical students and residents through our affiliation with McMaster University Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine.
Candidates must possess or be able to obtain an unrestricted license to practice medicine in Ontario with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and must hold or be eligible for fellowship in Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
