Grand River Hospital (GRH) provides exceptional care to patients in Waterloo-Wellington, Ontario through highly experienced, knowledgeable and compassionate professionals. GRH provides a comprehensive range of care to patients across two main campuses, six partner locations for cancer and kidney care and three community treatment centres. GRH employs over 3,200 highly skilled and dedicated employees, over 600 professional staff (such as physicians and midwives) and over 1,000 volunteers.

 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, and as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, the Executive Vice President, Patient Care (EVP) is a highly influential and visible leader with overall accountability for the patient and family service experience delivered by GRH and in the community through the Hospital’s community partnerships. Serving as the Chief Operating Officer, the EVP will lead patient service operations including the development and implementation of a patient and family service strategy for the future and will be the Hospital’s lead in developing and implementing integrated care models with community and regional partners. The EVP will lead service delivery transformation strategies and oversee the implementation of a culture of quality, safety and exceptional experience. With accountability for the organization’s Legal, Quality, Risk, and Patient Relations functions the EVP will develop and oversee the execution of strategies resulting in best in class performance. The EVP will normally act for the CEO in his absence.

 

As the ideal candidate, you have successful senior operational experience as an executive leader in a complex health system. With demonstrated experience developing trusting partnerships, you embody integrity, authenticity and GRH’s values. You are a skilled strategic leader, exceptional communicator and relationship builder with demonstrated success in working with a wide range of constituents. You have extensive healthcare experience and an understanding of, and commitment to, an environment that is continually challenged by a need for excellence, while experiencing significant human and financial resource constraints. Possessing clinical credentials, you also bring a Masters degree in Health Services Administration, Business Administration or other relevant post graduate degree to this critical role.
