Position Title Part-time Professor Protection, Security, and Investigations (Private Policing) Competition # 369-18 Department Human Services and Community Safety Campus Orillia Classification Academic Status Part-time Effective Date Winter 2019 Position Overview Reporting to the Dean, Human Services and Community Safety, the incumbent prepares and delivers courses in the Protection, Security, and Investigations diploma program. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Duties and Responsibilities
  • Delivering the course: Private Policing and Enforcement
  • Preparing and delivering appropriate curriculum to meet course outcomes
  • Incorporating a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
  • Evaluating student progress / achievement
  • Participating in program and college activities as required
  • Participating in program revision and renewal activities as required
  • Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
Qualifications
  • Successfully completed a Bachelor of Criminology/Criminal Justice or related degree
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in security and/or policing
  • Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity is an asset
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in their students
  • A commitment to life-long learning
  • Demonstrated experience in a variety of teaching and learning strategies; and adult learning methodologies is an asset
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office Suite
  • Computer literacy with a Learning Management System / Web Delivery Software (i.e. Blackboard) and a Student Information System would be considered an asset
