Reporting to the Dean, Centre for Marine Training and Research, the incumbent delivers courses in the Marine Navigation Program. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Deliver appropriate curriculum for one more of the following courses in the Marine Navigation program:
- Ship Construction
- Curriculum development based on Transport Canada regulations and IMO standards
- Incorporating a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
- Evaluating and reporting student progress / achievement
- Participating in program and college activities as required
- Participating in program revision and renewal activities as required
- Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
- Chief mate or higher certification with Transport Canada
- Post-Secondary diploma or degree in marine navigation field
- Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity
- Computer Skills including Microsoft Office Suite
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Commitment to life-long learning
