Position Title Part-Time Professor, Marine Engineering Technology Competition # 371-19 Department Marine Studies Campus Owen Sound Classification Academic Status Part-time Effective Date January 2020 Position Overview Reporting to the Dean, Centre for Marine Training and Research, the incumbent delivers courses in the Marine Engineering Technology Program.   Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Duties and Responsibilities
  • Deliver appropriate curriculum for one more of the following courses in the Marine Engineering Technology program:
    • Shipmasters Business for Engineers
  • Curriculum development based on Transport Canada regulations and IMO standards
  • Incorporating a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
  • Evaluating and reporting student progress / achievement
  • Participating in program and college activities as required
  • Participating in program revision and renewal activities as required
  • Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
Qualifications
  • 2nd Class Marine Engineer or higher certification with Transport Canada
  • Post-Secondary diploma or degree in marine engineering field
  • Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity
  • Computer Skills including Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in students
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Commitment to life-long learning
