Position Title Academic Program Technologist / Placement Liaison Competition # 317-19 Department Health and Wellness Campus Barrie Classification Support Staff Salary Range $ 34.01 (start rate) – $ 39.41 (4 year rat Hours per week 40 hours per week Status Contract (Appendix D) Effective Date November 4, 2019 – April 30, 2020 Position Overview THIS IS A TEMPORARY REPLACEMENT POSITION FOR A BARGAINING UNIT EMPLOYEE. Terms and conditions of employment are as outlined in the Support Staff Collective Agreement.

Reporting to the Associate Dean Professional and Community Health, the incumbent is responsible to coordinate, organize and maintain the OTA/PTA lab. In addition, the incumbent will liaise with allied health teams and agency placements to coordinate and facilitate student placements. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Duties and Responsibilities  
  • Facilitating student practice and reinforcing applied pre-learned principles / theory related to lab skills, procedures and client assessment by organizing and scheduling student learning activities, practice sessions and skill practice demonstrations
  • Collaborating with faculty to formulate a plan of action, and provide individual coaching, to students struggling to demonstrate skill competency
  • Setting up equipment / supplies in the lab for student practice and other events as required (i.e. Open House Days, events, etc.)
  • Ensuring all lab safety standards requirements are being followed
  • Providing feedback to faculty on observed skills for students
  • Maintaining equipment and resources such as computer software, learning tools, posters, manuals, journal articles, resource textbooks equipment and supplies to ensure materials / equipment are current and in good working order
  • Organizing and implementing training / orientation on lab equipment for students, faculty, and others
  • Organizing, maintaining and purchasing lab supplies and equipment
  • Assessing current and potential placement opportunities to ensure learning outcomes are met
  • Liaising with new or potential placement partners / agencies to promote student placements
  • Matching students with potential placements
  • Tracking and maintaining records / files to ensure accurate documentation of students’ placement (hours, OTA/PTA Type, etc.)
  • Successfully completed a 4 year postsecondary degree in a relevant field of study that may include, but is not limited to physical therapy or occupational therapy
  • Registered and in good standing with the Regulatory College of Occupational Therapists or College Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Five years’ clinical experience
  • Experience in training and demonstrating skills to others
  • Experience in ordering supplies and inventory management
  • Computer skills using the MS Office Suite
  • Experience tracking and maintaining data and records within a computerized database
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate information in a clear concise manner
  • Interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with various stakeholders
  • Must be self-directed with the ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Awareness of health and safety rules and regulations
  • Proven analytical, critical thinking, decision making, and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated planning, coordinating and time management skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Teaching and training adults certification would be an asset
