Hours of Work per Week:
Up to 24 hours per week .
Monday to Thursday: 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Friday 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Some weekends/evenings/different shifts may be required based on operational need.
Note: This is a regular part-time position (up to 24 hours per week). This competition is open to external applicants and all employees of Fanshawe College; however, applications from Regular Part-time (RPT) members of the Part-time Support Staff bargaining unit will be given first consideration.

Duties: Under the general supervision of the Director, Library and Media Services, the incumbent performs all functions and services associated with the Media Services desk and other resource circulation based duties. The incumbent provides technical support related to media equipment to the students, faculty, and staff of Fanshawe College. The incumbent assists with inquiries and provides reference to, and bookings for, media software, hardware and viewing rooms. The incumbent assists patrons with media loans and performs minor repairs to hardware. Occasionally, the incumbent assists patrons in Access Services with loans of print materials, fine payment processing, and the adding of funds to student cards. The incumbent shares in the successful team operation of the Media Services and Access Services.
- Post-secondary 2 year diploma in Media Studies, Audio, Photography or Video
- Minimum 1 year experience with solid understanding of media equipment (DSLR cameras, lighting kits, gaming consoles, video cameras, tripods, etc.)
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered; preference will be given to applicants meeting the education requirements
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail
- Ability to perform minor hardware repairs
- Good organizational skills and ability to multi-task
- Knowledge of appropriate safety precautions when using media equipment
- Ability to work with equipment and patron databases
- General knowledge of copyright and license restrictions for software and print material
