Durham Continuing Education is the Durham District School Board’s program for its adult daytime program as well as many continuing education programs. While the core business of Continuing Education is funded by the Ministry of Education, partnerships with MCTU, IRCC, MCI and MCSS support Continuing Education programming.

In addition to daytime secondary credit programming for students 21 years of age and over, Durham Continuing Education offers the following scope of services and service delivery channels:  Adult literacy and upgrading; Computer training; Document evaluation service; eLearning credit program for adults; Elementary & secondary international language classes; Elementary & secondary summer school; English as a Second Language (ESL) for adults; Focus for Future credit program for young parents; Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada (LINC); Learn-at-Home credit correspondence; Night school credit; North Durham – credit program; Pathway and cooperative education credit programs; Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR).

Job Summary:

Work with Students from Grades 7 - 12 to support them with summer school classes. Assist classroom teachers and school administration with preparation of course materials and other items that support student achievement.

 

Major Duties:

1.Assist students with their academic progress.

2.Complete other such duties as assigned by the Principal.

Computer (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel) Office 365 products

Photocopier

Laminator

 

Qualifications:

1.Preference will be given to applicants who are currently university students in a Concurrent or Consecutive Education Program, or a current University/College student who may be considering a career related to education. Studies in the area of English, Mathematics or Science disciplines are preferred.

2.Experience working with students in a school environment is an asset.

Please note:

  • This position runs from ( June 24, 2019 to July 26, 2019)
  • The daily hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
