PT Faculty to teach Dual Credits

Hand Tools I


We are seeking PT Faculty with background in Carpentry to teach Hand Tools I at a variety of high schools in the Durham Region.


The successful candidate will be required to teach twice a week (75 minute periods).  Days are flexible and can be determined with the high school teacher.  The dual credit starts the week of September 16th and runs until the week of December 16th, 2019. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant educational credentials and a proven track record of relevant work/teaching experience.  


Course description:

Successful completion of this course will allow the Learner to select, safely use, and care for a wide variety of hand tools and non-powered equipment. Learners will have the opportunity to apply safe work habits and good housekeeping in a workshop setting.


The dual credit program allows students to participate in post-secondary courses and apprenticeship training, earning dual credits that count towards both their high school diploma and their post-secondary diploma, degree or apprenticeship certification.

Dual credits engage students through exposure to college courses and culture while supporting their successful transition to post-secondary education. Presently, over 2,000 area high school students are taking a dual credit program with Durham College.
