This position reports to the Director, Reporting and Student Systems, and is accountable for the overall management of College academic space. The Manager, Scheduling is responsible for the coordination and creation of student/faculty timetables in a multi-term, multi-campus environment.  This position provides services in support of the timely, efficient, and accurate scheduling of all Durham College post secondary, apprenticeship, and continuing education classes.

 

The Manager, Scheduling is responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring policies, procedures, guidelines and timelines related to space allocation and timetabling.  They will work closely with Academic Schools and Facilities to ensure efficient allocation of space, accuracy of records, and effective delivery of processes that ensure for the effective delivery timetables for all programs.The Scheduling Manager will liaise with the University of Ontario Institute of Technology regarding optimum use of shared space. The Manager, Scheduling is responsible for conducting continuous reviews of scheduling processes and implementing best practices to enhance operations.  The incumbent will be expected to perform ongoing analyses of constraints being placed on the scheduling software to identify opportunities for creation of timetables that fit both Academic and Student needs, and to work with each school to implement effective information gathering, communication, and reporting achieves academic program requirements set by Academic Leadership.

 

The successful candidate will possess a three-year diploma or degree, preferably in the area of Information Management, Business or Administrative Studies. The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience providing progressive leadership and supervision in a unionized environment and have the ability to work effectively with staff.  They will have demonstrated success in strategic planning, achievement of goals, and managing organizational change.  The successful candidate will have exceptional analytical skills, an understanding of academic operations, attention to detail. The candidate must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write and implement policies and procedures.  It is preferred that, the incumbent will be highly proficient in the use of academic scheduling software such as Infosilem.  The incumbent must be able to foster a cooperative work environment establishing strong working relationships with all levels of the college community including, and possess the ability to make sound, evidence based decisions by exercising judgment, diplomacy and discretion within changing and conflicting priorities. The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills and the ability to analyze and resolve a variety of issues/conflicts that may involve students, staff, faculty and external clients. 

 

The incumbent may be required to work occasional evenings or weekends.
