The successful candidate will be exposed to a variety of communication activities at CVC from planning and strategy through to tactical implementation. Marketing Communications staff will encourage the successful candidate to learn, explore and grow professionally, while receiving guidance and mentorship. The position is closely supervised by a member of the Marketing Communications team.

Eligibility Requirements

Enrolled in a post- secondary program in Communications. Marketing, Digital marketing, Public relations or related discipline and/or receiving credit for a co-operative education term at a recognized post-secondary institution based on experience and training in a professional setting. Knowledge and skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Time management and ability to multi-task
  • Can work independently and as a member of a team
  • High level of professionalism

Summary of Major Tasks

Under the direction of the Marketing Communications team learn to build skills in:
  • Writing media releases, blog posts, social media posts, newsletters and copy for marketing materials
  • Supporting special events, including event promotion and logistics
  • Assisting with media relations, website content and design pieces, e.g. newspaper ads, flyers, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned
