Summary:

 Assist with the daily operation of the seasonal ice rink.  Work includes communicating with ice rink patrons, skate guard, and basic cleaning duties. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs a variety of general maintenance duties.  Including but not limited to: custodial duties, equipment set up and removal, minor maintenance including painting of assigned areas.

  • Ensures that all public and employee areas of the facility are safe, clean and tidy at all times.

  • Operate assigned equipment including floor scrubbers, side to side scrubber, power washers and shop vacuum.

  • Set up equipment for regular and special events (stage, chairs, rink glass handling, event flooring, hockey boards handling and any other tasks associated to event setup / tear down and event management.

  • Report any problems / incidents / accidents or damages to supervisor on duty in a timely manner to ensure a clean, safe and healthy facility.

  • Basic customer service duties, field questions both in person and over the telephone.

  • Skate monitor for public skating times.

  • Must comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Corporation Policies and Procedures and any other applicable legislation.

Position Requirements:

  • Ability to work effectively with and for the public.

  • Ability to supervise and control people in a polite manner.

  • Ability to perform moderate to hard physical labor, lifting up to thirty (30) lbs.

  • Valid certification in Standard First Aid and CPR with AED (Defibrillator).

  • Ability to work under limited supervision.

Hourly Rate : $14/hour

Location: Available to work at different locations- Seymour Hannah and Bill Burgoyne Arena

Hours of Work: Temporary-up to 24 hours a week
