Position Summary
International Education
(This position is initially open to Regular Part-Time, bargaining unit employees of the college)
Suzhou Centennial College (SCC) Assistant is responsible for international projects in China including Suzhou Centennial College – Centennial’s Learning Site in Suzhou, China. The incumbent will assist to implement projects with partner institutions, along with projects related to SCC promotion, recruitment, admission, faculty and administrative training, and student exchanges.
In addition to supporting all related projects, the incumbent will provide administrative support to the senior team, assist in research and country analysis, official documents, marketing materials, survey and translations to support the business development goals.
  • Supports day to day operational aspects of projects; Maintains documentation and reports on project development, implementation and outcomes
  • Assists Director and Manager with proposal writing for projects when needed
  • Maintains relationships with partner institutions (SCC and others in China) and business partners/clients
  • Supports translation services as needed for official agreement, contracts, documents, and project promotional materials
  • Communicate with agents, applicants and clients to promote and develop the projects.
  • Keep track of tuition payments, invoices, expenses and budget forecast
  • Assists both CC and SCC in developing tool kits and best practice guidelines for projects
  • Assists Regional Teams and Social Media team to promote CC and SCC on international recruitment targeted markets in geographic area through various promotion fairs, events, materials, tools
  • Present information sessions on and off-campus and overseas to prospective students, guidance counsellors, agents and parents; ensuring timely and efficient processing of applications
  • Maintains contact database for CC-SCC agents, clients, partners and alumni
  • Reviews applications, following the established standard Admission criteria, policies, procedures, guidelines, processes and practices for all Academic Program areas
  • Provides admissions advising for prospective students, agents and applicants
  • Communicates with partner institutions (SCC), offshore office staff, agents, students and parents regarding the admission process, academic requirements and registration/orientation information
  • Responsible for all logistical aspects of delegations, visits to the College by government, international institutions and industries from China
  • Coordinates special events, meetings, trainings, and workshops related to CC-SCC project and other projects of China
  • Assists the regional manager in organizing offshore printing and shipping of recruitment materials for fairs and events.
  • Four (4) year degree in Business, Communications, Education, Marketing, Administration or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in international student services, marketing and recruitment environment within a post-secondary environment
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Canadian and Chinese Government education policies and post-secondary and visa rules related to international students
  • Previous experience working on joint venture, corporate training and student exchange projects related to international students
  • Fluency in English and Mandarin in both speaking and writing is mandatory
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel
  • Demonstrated knowledge of a large on-line computerized record system, PC software and integrated student information database systems (e.g. Banner)
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong client service, communications and relationship building
  • Ability to meet deadlines and complete tasks under pressure
  • Experience working with established policies, procedures and guidelines
  • Ability to maintain the strictest confidence regarding student data (in accordance with departmental policies and procedures, and the Freedom of Information Protection of Privacy Act)
  • Awareness and sensitivity to the cross-cultural communication requirements of customers, and understanding the special needs of international students
  • Experience, knowledge and understanding of working effectively in a diverse environment

Hours of Work Part-Time up to 24 Hours
Additional Information as Applicable : Monday to Thursday, 9 am – 4 pm or flexibility to meet the time zone difference

Salary Range Payband 7 - $28.42 - $35.67 per hour
