Centennial College is hiring for a Senior AR Officer to provide senior level expertise to support the college’s accounts receivable and collections functions including: account reconciliation, contract management, and collections of unpaid corporate and student accounts. Reporting to the Director of Finance, and indirectly reporting to the Senior Accounts Receivable Team Lead, the incumbent investigates and interprets charges and payments for students and non-student accounts while maintaining the accuracy of data in the Academic Information System (AIS). The incumbent will also lead AR system related upgrades and administer the college credit card payment system (i.e. Moneris).
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the monitoring, accuracy, updating and maintenance of data (i.e. Financial records) in the college’s Academic Information System (AIS) and Financial Accounting System
  • Receives and determines the reason for all payments and distributes accordingly to AR staff (e.g. cheques, cash, credit cards, student loans etc.)
  • Responsible for all AR deposits to the bank and pick up of bank documents
  • Verifies records and payments from 2 Daycare Centres and responds to queries from parents/clients; creates accurate reports to distribute to Daycare Centres on a monthly basis
  • Maintains financial records for the Financial Accounting System (FIS) including invoicing and payments to support ongoing transactions involving the collection of funds and/or payment to the college
  • Sets up a contract management system to ensure all progressive invoices are processed as per contract agreement
  • Acts as AR Systems Lead t for any accounts receivable system related inquiries from staff; coordinates AR system related upgrades with IT/Finance
  • Creates reports for various analysis requested by management or staff
  • Engages in month-end, quarter end and year end AR activities: balance/reconcile accounts, account analysis and working papers, reporting and commentary for management/auditor reviews
  • Advise clients on AR related inquiries
  • Other duties as required
Qualifications
  • 3-year diploma/degree in Business or an equivalent combination of education and experience with a concentration in accounting; senior level experience in receivables analysis in a complex financial information system (i.e. Banner, Financial or Academic Information Systems)
  • Minimum five (5) years’ progressive related experience in Accounts Receivable and Collections including experience analyzing complex accounting systems and its’ sub ledger
  • Proficiency with large complex financial systems with experience navigating accounts receivable modules
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Demonstrated ability with database software and applications using spreadsheets and word processing
  • Proven communication skills (oral and written)
  • Possess high attention to detail and sense of urgency to meet deadlines
  • Proven analytical and problem solving skills
  • A team player with the ability to work in a highly diverse work environment
Hours of Work 35 Hours
Additional Information as Applicable 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday

Salary Range $34.01 - $39.41 per hour (Pay band I)
