Position Summary

Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Research and Corporate Planning, the Director, Institutional Research Office(IRO) will provide senior strategic leadership in the management and coordination of the College’s institutional research activities to support Centennial’s mission and strategic initiatives, to ensure quality, growth, profitability, and competitiveness of the College academic programs and service areas. The Director will lead the collection, analysis, organization and reporting of institutional and external data and provide the College with data and information in support of decision making. The Director will support the strategic planning, quality assessment and improvement activities at every level of the college.
Responsibilities
  • Provides senior level leadership in the collection, analysis and dissemination of College-wide data in support of the planning and decision-making process.
  • Oversees the administration and data analysis of the Ministry mandated KPI surveys (KPI Student Satisfaction Survey, KP Apprenticeship Survey, KPI Graduate Outcome Survey, and KPI Employer Satisfaction Survey) and identify trends, provide strategic advice to the Executive Team and Board of Governors in terms of the results.
  • Leads or oversees the development and implementation of research projects which are designed to provide senior leaders with timely and relevant data, analysis of issues, and recommendations.
  • Leads Dashboard development, implementation, improvement, and maintenance processes at the College.
  • Conducts environmental scan to support the strategic planning process and execution of strategic plan through various internal plans and process to promote academic and service excellence.
  • Leads and manages all survey processes at the institution, including the design and development of survey policy and procedures, provides expertise and support on research ethics, survey sample design, sample size determination, best practices in response rate improvement, data structure, analysis, and survey results dissemination.
  • Leads and oversees the strategic decision making process of new program development, provides strategies, consultative advice, guidance, recommendations and support based on data and analysis.
  • Leads research and analysis activities for academic program review, accreditation processes, grant procurement and other College-wide programs. Provide research findings and recommendations to academic programs for the purposes of assessing teaching and student learning outcomes.
  • Establishes, builds and maintains relationships with strategic external stakeholders to represent Centennial College in lobbying activities to the Provincial and Federal Government, as well as external agencies and other post-secondary institutions.
  • Develops department’s strategic and operational plans and align resources to deliver on IRO program/ projects and provides results oriented leadership and guidance to all employees in the department.
Qualifications
  • A Master’s degree required with a focus in social sciences, educational administration, economics, or related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of nine (9) years of work experience at a senior leadership level in education, government, non-profit or industry with knowledge and experience in strategic planning, data collection, data extraction, statistics, research methods and design, data warehousing or business intelligence.
  • Demonstrated strategic planning and project management skills to provide leadership in integrating College level objectives with individual program requirements and overall corporate direction.
  • Experience in designing complex studies involving quantitative and qualitative research methods, statistical analysis and modelling techniques, and assessment and program evaluation methods.
  • Expertise in strategic planning, institutional assessment, accountability and performance measurement.
  • Advanced knowledge and expertise level skills in data warehousing or business intelligence tools such as Cognos, advanced statistical packages (i.e. SPSS or STATA), and data visualization software.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in recruitment, coaching, motivating, and mentoring within a post-secondary institution or similar unionized environment.
  • Working knowledge of College and Ministry legislation, policies, practices and structures and ongoing factors affecting the Ontario College system.
  • Excellent leadership, relationship management, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong report writing, presentation and public speaking skills with the ability to communicate complex information to stakeholders.

Salary Range Pay band 13 ($98,722- $131,627)
