The Human Resources Department at Baycrest has an opportunity for a

 

SPECIALIST, TOTAL REWARDS

 

FULL TIME, NON-UNION, 70 HOURS BI-WEEKLY

 

 

Baycrest provides care and service to approximately 2,000 people a day through a unique continuum of care system, ranging from wellness programs, residential housing and outpatient clinics, to a 472-bed nursing home, and a 300-bed complex continuing care facility with an acute care unit. Baycrest is a world-class leader in innovation in aging, with the acclaimed Rotman Research Institute, considered one of the premier brain institutes in the world, and the Kunin-Lunenfeld Applied and Evaluative Research Unit (‘KLAERU’), which supports clinical research and application of research findings directly to patient care. Most recently, Baycrest was called to lead the The Centre for Aging and Brain Health Innovation (C-ABHI):  C-ABHI is a solution accelerator for the aging and brain health sector.  

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serves and the subject matter expert on compensation and benefits for the Human Resources department, leads the day-to-day operations of benefits and compensation administration
  • Builds consultative and collaborative relationships with HR partners, operational leaders and team members on total rewards initiatives
  • Delivers high quality analytics, gathers and formats data into regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards
  • Monitors trends, conducts research and provides recommendations on total rewards programming; implements enhancements to processes, tools and programs
  • Leads and documents the job evaluation process, provides recommendations on pay bands and salaries; facilitates communication and implementation of changes
  • Prepares and recommends internal equity adjustments, as appropriate
  • Actively participates the annual compensation cycle, including: data analysis, preparation of reports and communication tools, coordination of information, and supporting managers, HR and payroll throughout the process
  • Participates in the completion and submission of annual compensation and benchmarking surveys and reports
  • Supports compliance with pay equity legislation
  • Supports collective bargaining through the preparation of costing analyses, benchmarking and implementation of new agreements
  • Develops communications and tools to ensure optimum employee and manager awareness and understanding of compensation and benefits
  • Oversees the administration of the organization’s benefits plans, including recommending strategies for reducing benefits costs, improving processes, and changes to plan design
  • Actively participates in the annual benefits plan renewal process, including: cost analysis, design reviews, and preparation of communication tools
  • Acts as the escalation point for internal and external inquiries related to benefit plans and policies, provides recommendations on resolving complex issues

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • University degree in human resources or a related discipline
  • 3 to 5 years of progressive benefits and total rewards experience
  • CPP, CEBS, CHRP or other HR professional certification preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of compensation principles and practices and strong working knowledge of statistical methodologies
  • Extremely well-organized, strong attention to detail and superior analytical skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Strong systems thinker and process improvement mentality
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and meet competing deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to partner across HR to deliver effective services
  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with advanced/expert knowledge of Excel; experience working with HRIS systems to pull information and manipulate data
  • Demonstrates a desire to proactively help and serve internal/external customers to meet their needs
  • Clearly conveys thoughts, both written and verbally, listening attentively and asking questions
