SCIENTIFIC ASSOCIATE, FULL TIME

Cogniciti is the brain health subsidiary of Toronto-based Baycrest Health Sciences. Since its launch in 2014, Cogniciti’s Online Brain Health Assessment has shown exceptional user engagement, with over 63,000 assessments completed. Cogniciti aims to bring brain health solutions to people, businesses, and governments worldwide.

In collaboration with Cogniciti’s Scientific Officers, the Scientific Associate will assist in designing and implementing research projects that support the commercial development goals of Cogniciti. Projects may include developing and validating other language versions of the Brain Health Assessment, validating the Assessment for older test-takers, development and validation of a tablet version of the test, and analyzing the current database to develop additional measures of cognitive performance. The Scientific Associate will be a key team member in developing the future directions of Cogniciti.

 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Assists with the design and implementation of research projects to support the commercial development goals of Cogniciti
  • Contributes to decision-making regarding business development opportunities and the future direction of Cogniciti
  • Analyzes data and other project information
  • Communicates project updates and results to supervisors and other team members
  • Coordinates reporting to stakeholders of project outputs and outcomes, including those relating to recruitment and training, impact of scientific outcomes, knowledge transfer and commercialization
  • Prepares research manuscripts for publication
  • Recruits and supervises graduate-level interns and researchers to assist with project as required

 

 

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • PhD, MD, or equivalent degree with an emphasis on cognitive neuroscience or neuropsychology
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a postdoctoral fellow
  • Experience commercializing research or interfacing with business teams is an asset
  • Previous experience supervising and mentoring research assistants or other supervisees
  • Experience recruiting and testing research participants
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and a business mindset
  • Detail-oriented and well-organized
  • Good analytic and statistical skills; experience analyzing big data is an asset
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
