 PROGRAM DIRECTOR, HOSPITAL QUALITY, ACCREDITATION AND CORPORATE POLICY

 

FULL TIME

 

The Program Director will provide strategic and thought leadership for the ongoing development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement at the Baycrest Hospital. The Program Director is responsible for managing an improvement team and for leading the development, execution and evaluation of quality, best practice policies and initiatives and a robust program to support and ensure clinical best practice.

 

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Provides leadership in the development and implementation of a new and robust framework and structures for quality and innovation based on best practices.
  • Leads a robust program of quality improvement, and Best Practice that is geared to the field of aging to produce the best outcomes of care for patients, residents and families.
  • Evaluates changing priorities, trends, emerging issues and legislative and regulatory requirements, analyzing the potential impacts on quality and Best Practice activities and adapting strategies and plans accordingly to achieve desired results.
  • Develops and oversees the administration process for all Baycrest policies and procedures.
  • Leads both the Hospital Accreditation Canada Accreditation Processes and supports the Health Insurance Reciprocal of Canada Best Practice Self-Appraisal Modules Process.
  • Facilitates knowledge transfer across the organization, peer organizations and sectors.
  • Creates a working environment for staff and team members. Manages the recruitment activity for staff, staff performance and career development.
  • Performs various corporate management responsibilities that support and advance corporate goals.
  • Prepares and manages department budget, identifying operational and staff budget requirements, preparing projections, reviewing variances, and authorizing expenditures within budget and approved limits.
  • Complies with health & safety requirements, including those specific to jobs designated as management.

Qualifications (include but are not limited to):

  • Master’s degree in health care or related field; MBA or Master’s Health Sciences/Administration preferred
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification preferred
  • 3-5 years relevant hospital operations and management experience
  • 3 years leading quality improvement initiatives in a health care setting
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in quality methodologies and analysis; knowledgeable about Accreditation Canada’s standards, Required Organizational Practices and Priority Processes
  • Experience and skilled at policy development and implementation
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and presentation skills
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Resilience to lead effectively, particularly under stressful conditions, ensuring compliance and corporate deadlines are met
  • Proven ability to delegate work and provide opportunities for continuous improvement for the team
