Job Description

The Adult Day Program for Seniors has two opportunities for a




56 Hours Bi-Weekly – Days (shifts may be subject to change)


SEIU Service Hourly Pay Rate: $22.5775 - $23.1570


Community Day Centre for Seniors is focused on offering older adults a wide range of social, cognitive, physical and spiritual activities. This program is designed for community dwelling seniors with physical frailty as well as mild to severe cognitive impairments.  


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provides safe and effective direct care and support for programs to meet the needs of program members as identified in the interdisciplinary care plan
  • Supports the independence, dignity, social, emotional and cultural well-being of program members
  • Promotes an environment that is conducive to dementia care, mental health care and physical frailty in a community setting
  • Supports the delivery of programs related to health and wellness of Program Members
  • Plans and conducts assigned programs as well as initiates new programs and planning of special events under the guidance of the Therapeutic Recreationist
  • Support transportation of members to and from the program (i.e. buses)
  • Initiates and maintains a relationship with the client, their family and other care providers




Qualifications include but are not limited to:

  • Current P.S.W. certificate from a recognized community college or educational institute or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Training/education in program activation/ recreation
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Certificate in Dementia Care
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of the interdisciplinary team, and effectively manage challenging situations including responsive behaviours
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem solving skills
  • Experience in geriatric nursing, with emphasis on working with high risk seniors living in the community preferred
  • Experience and special interest delivering services and care to seniors with cognitive impairment, mental health issues and complex medical issues
  • Experience working in a Day Centre or community service setting preferred
  • Knowledge of Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian languages an asset
  • Activation Diploma preferred
