CLINICAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP GERIATRIC PSYCHIATRY
I FULL TIME
One-Year 70.00 Hours bi-weekly – Non-Union
The Rotman Research Institute of Baycrest Centre for Geriatric Care is offering a one-year funded clinical research fellowship in geriatric psychiatry. The Rotman Research Institute (RRI) is a premier international centre for the study of human brain function. The primary research focus is on memory and the executive functions of the brain, both in normal aging and in the presence of diseases and conditions that affect the brain, such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia.
The postdoctoral fellow will have an interest in neuroimaging of mood and memory disorders in older adults. A minimum of 60% of the fellow’s time will be devoted to research and related activities. This research fellowship will provide clinicians with skills in management of clinical studies, data analyses, and manuscript preparation. This fellowship will not fulfill requirements for geriatric psychiatry subspecialty qualification. Funding is in line with the fellowship scales of the Medical Research Council of Canada, and includes an allowance for travel and research expenses. Other research funding may be available from Canadian agencies for candidates who are eligible to apply.
This is one-year fellowship position with start date of July 2nd, 2019.
Applicants should submit a C.V. and relevant reprints, 3 letters of reference, and a covering letter describing current research interests and future research goals.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Clinical support for studies using brain stimulation to treat mood or memory problems in adults
- Analyses of behavioural and neuroimaging data
- Produce a minimum of one manuscript by the end of the fellowship
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
- D. or equivalent degree with clinical qualifications to practice psychiatry in the province of Ontario
- Eligible for educational license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
- Previous research experience and knowledge of statistics will be assets.
- Good analytic skills
