Position Purpose

Reporting to the Director of Care/Supervisor of Care, and under the guidance and direction of the Registered Nursing staff, is responsible for providing care, support, assistance, and supervision to residents/clients in the Health Care Centre; promoting independence in activities of daily living, including restorative care, and working in collaboration with members of the client care team.


•Completion of a Personal Support Worker certificate program or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Up to one (1) year experience or practicum placement with resident care in a long-term care facility or other geriatric environment.
•Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Checks (PVSC).
•Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self management, accountability, flexibility and adaptability.
•Demonstrated basic computer literacy utilizing MS Office software applications and the ability to receive and respond to emails.
•Good interpersonal and communication skills to work within a diverse community and ability to deal empathetically with residents, family members, etc., to contribute to their well-being.
•Ability to work effectively independently or as a part of a team.
•Ability to read, write and follow written and verbal instructions in English.
•Physical stamina and ability to lift in excess of 100 lbs with assistance; to lift and to carry equipment, supplies and patients; and to push and pull wheelchairs, wheeled beds or stretchers.
•Ability to work outside regular business hours, as required, and to work a variety of shifts.
