Application Details: This is a temporary part-time position that may continue until June 2019. 

 

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Grant Writer is the lead content creator for select research grant proposal submissions. A self-motivated, committed individual with a track record of successful funding proposals, the incumbent will apply his/her demonstrated expertise to develop clear, compelling and creative proposals in close collaboration with Principal Investigators/Research Leads.

The Grant Writer will possess superior writing ability, as well as excellent project management and time management skills. The candidate must be highly organized, collaborative, and proactive, with the ability to effectively use independent judgment, and produce quality work within tight time constraints.

 

 

Specific Responsibilities Include:

 

  • Researching and developing original content for grant proposals that meet grantor requirements, under the direction of the Principal Investigator and other domain experts.
  • Undertaking research for the purposes of gathering statistical, analytical and anecdotal data, analyzing those data, and using such data strategically to create competitive proposals.
  • Creating compelling, persuasive, well-structured grant narratives through the use of effective storytelling and superior prose, while effectively tying the institution’s needs to funder priorities.
  • Completing or supporting other aspects of grant development, including soliciting, writing and collecting support letters; preparing figures/diagrams; preparing CVs; and preparing grant budgets.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in relevant grant writing roles, ideally in a higher education or research environment;
  • Successful candidate must possess a post-graduate degree or equivalent (e.g. Masters) and an understanding of research methodologies and requirements
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills. Experience researching and analyzing complex information, and describing technical/scientific information for both technical and general audiences.
  • Self-directed, proactive and able to work independently. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail to ensure timeliness and accuracy of content; Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. 
  • A commitment to professional ethics; ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion with sensitive information. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including excellent oral communication and interviewing skills.
  • High degree of proficiency using MS Word.
