Wage: $19.89 - $34.13 per hour
Location: Grand River Transit Centre, 85 Chandler Drive, Kitchener and/or
Cambridge Bus Depot, 460 Conestoga Blvd., Cambridge
Maintains and repairs on a day to day basis the Grand River Transit (GRT) fleet of 266 Buses and 35 Mobility Vans. Ability to follow/knowledge of, corporate policies/procedures and legislation related to vehicle servicing (e.g., Occupational Health and Safety Act, WHMIS, Highway Traffic Act).
Must have a valid Ontario Certificate of Qualification or be a 3rd or 4th year registered apprentice with solid experience in either Truck or Coach repair and maintenance. GRT offers ongoing training opportunities, state of the art repair facilities and tooling/equipment, and an industry best benefit and pension package.
Candidates should have knowledge of on-board vehicle computerized equipment and associated test equipment, are skilled in using a laptop to perform systems diagnostics on trucks or coaches. Possess all hand tools applicable to the trade. In addition to Grade 12, you have 2 years of related experience in repairing electronically controlled engines, emission control systems, transmissions and rear axles. Experience with electronically controlled ZF or Voith automatic transmissions would be considered an asset.
Ability to read and follow maintenance manuals, parts books, wiring diagrams, and inspection procedures. Ability to write MTO and preventive maintenance inspection reports, and maintain hand tools in safe operating condition is essential.
Must hold a valid Class DZ driver’s license (or a willingness to obtain one within the probationary period)an acceptable driving record to operate Regional vehicles.
Must provide an acceptable Police Information Check (Level 2) for bondability.
For this role, you should be prepared to work straight shifts, including days, afternoons, nights and weekends, as well as transfer to other transit locations
