Interpretive Services Coordinator

This is a permanent full time position working 35 hours per week.
Reporting to the Manager, Heritage Services this position is responsible for developing and coordinating Halton Region’s Heritage Network and developing, delivering and evaluating public-facing program offerings, including exhibits, school-age programs, special events and professional development for Heritage Partners.
The successful candidate will possess a degree or diploma in museum studies with current certificate of qualification and registration with the Ontario College of Teachers or a completion of a Bachelor of Education degree in Adult Education with a minimum of six years’ progressive museum programming experience. To be successful in this role, the incumbent must have knowledge in the principles and practices of museum programming and exhibit development along with experience applying adult education principles in program planning and delivery. A high level of skill in verbal and written communication, tact, diplomacy and a commitment to high-quality customer service and service delivery are essential. Project management, organizational, a high-degree of analytical skills and proficiency with MS Office suite are also required.
The successful candidate will be made an offer of employment on condition that the Regional Municipality of Halton receives a current (obtained within the past six (6) months), original and acceptable Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Screening by the first day of employment. Travel will be required incumbent must provide their own transportation. The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license by their first day of employment. Flexibility in working hours will be required on occasion.
- Provide advice, services, professional development and training to Heritage Partners and members of the Heritage Network.
· Lead the development and implementation of a Regional Heritage Interpretive Plan.
· Create interpretive plans for Heritage Services and Heritage Partner projects.
- Develop, deliver and evaluate public programs.
- Plan and deliver the annual “Heritage Exchange” conference
· Participate in the development and evaluation of exhibits.
· Manage the circulation of traveling exhibits.
- Coordinate the recruitment, training and supervision of museum studies students and interns.
- Develop, deliver and evaluate special events.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
