Position Title Part-time Professor - ECE Competition # 285-18 Department Human Services and Community Safety Campus Orillia Classification Academic Status Part-time Effective Date September 2018 (Wed.8:00-11:00, Thurs.15:00-18:00) Position Overview Reporting to the Dean, Human Services and Community Safety, the incumbent develops and delivers courses in the Early Childhood Education diploma program. Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Duties and Responsibilities
  • Delivering the course: Observation and Documentation
  • Developing and delivering appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
  • Incorporating a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
  • Evaluating student progress / achievement
  • Participating in program and college activities as required
  • Participating in program revision and renewal activities as required
  • Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
Qualifications
  • Successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree
  • Successfully completed a diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Registered with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in the field of early childhood education
  • Teaching and Training Adults certification and / or experience in a teaching or training capacity is an asset
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in their students
  • A commitment to life-long learning
  • Experience in some or all of the following: curriculum development, a variety of teaching and learning strategies, adult learning methodologies
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office Suite
  • Computer literacy with a Learning Management System / Web Delivery Software (i.e. Blackboard) and a Student Information System would be considered an asset
