Position Title Part-time Professor, Dental Assisting Competition # 199-18 Department Health Wellness and Sciences Campus Barrie Classification Academic Status Part-time Effective Date September 2018 to December 2018 Position Overview Reporting to the Associate Dean, the incumbent develops and delivers courses in the Dental Assisting program.  Specific duties include, but are not limited to: Duties and Responsibilities
  • Delivering courses in the Dental Assisting program
  • Developing and delivering appropriate curriculum to meet course objectives
  • Incorporating a variety of teaching / learning strategies to meet student needs
  • Evaluating student progress / achievement
  • Participating in program and college activities as required
  • Participating in program revision and renewal activities as required
  • Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment
  • Successfully completed an accredited post-secondary program for dental assisting
  • Must be a Certified Level II Dental Assistant and have current registration with a regulatory or certifying body (e.g. Ontario Dental Assistants Association (ODAA)
  • Five years’ experience as a Certified Level II Dental Assistant
  • Teaching and Training Adults certification preferred
  • Experience in a teaching or training capacity
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Proven ability to work in a team environment and to foster the same in their students
  • A commitment to life-long learning
  • Experience in some or all of the following: curriculum development, a variety of delivery strategies, adult learning methodologies, academic advising, and student success strategies
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience using dental software (e.g. Dentrix, Dexis)
  • Computer literacy with a Learning Management System / Web Delivery Software (i.e. Blackboard) and a Student Information System would be considered an asset
  • Current First Aid and HCP CPR
