Position Summary
School of Communications, Media, Arts & Design
Centennial College’s School of Communications, Media, Arts and Design is seeking a Full-Time Faculty Member to join the Department of Arts and Design as a specialist in game development and design. The successful candidate will be the lead faculty and program coordinator for the Game Development advanced diploma program in the School of Communications, Media, Arts & Design. He or she will be responsible for program leadership, teaching, course development, course modifications, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate may also teach in other relevant programs in the school, notably our Game Art diploma program.
  • Foster a positive, respectful teaching and learning environment based on the principles of inclusion, equity and diversity, including the critical examination of classroom materials and instructional practice for discriminatory bias or barriers to learning and engagement
  • Develop and implement a variety of teaching/learning strategies and academic technologies in course delivery and student assessment, engaging in additional training as needed
  • Work effectively in a team-based environment
  • Use effective interpersonal communication skills with students, faculty, management and external partners or community members, showing a sensitivity to intercultural communication
  • Develop and nurture partnerships with relevant industry partners and cultural organizations.
  • Provide academic support to students as part of regularly scheduled office hours and regular electronic communication
  • Attend meetings, maintain records of student grades/assessments and participate in meetings and activities pertinent to faculty responsibilities
  • Program Coordinator duties as required including curriculum supervision, student recruitment and regular program reviews and updates
  • Diploma in a related field. (i.e. game, animation, effects, programming, digital media, etc.) Bachelors or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum two (2) years demonstrated experience teaching at the post-secondary level
  • Minimum five (5) years demonstrated experience working in game development and/or design
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and other trends currently affecting the industry (Canadian and global context)
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to work and lead in a collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion to meet the needs of our diverse students, staff and college community
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult education principles and the role of learning outcomes, instructional approaches and evaluation techniques to be used
  • Experience in developing course or learning materials is an asset
