Position Summary
School of Communications, Media, Arts & Design
Centennial College’s School of Communications, Media, Arts and Design is seeking a Full-Time Faculty Member to teach in two of the School’s post-graduate certificate programs, Arts Management and Museum & Cultural Management. The successful candidate will have the ability to teach in both programs, possessing teachable subject matter expertise across disciplines. He or she will also act as coordinator for both Arts Management and Museum & Cultural Management, facilitating the collaboration of student and faculty cohorts while establishing long-term synergy between the programs. He or she will be responsible for program leadership, teaching, course development, course modifications, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate may also teach other relevant courses at the School.
  • Foster a positive, respectful teaching and learning environment based on the principles of inclusion, equity and diversity, including the critical examination of classroom materials and instructional practice for discriminatory bias or barriers to learning and engagement
  • Develop and implement a variety of teaching/learning strategies and academic technologies in course delivery and student assessment, engaging in additional training as needed
  • Work effectively in a team-based environment
  • Use effective interpersonal communication skills with students, faculty, management and external partners or community members, showing a sensitivity to intercultural communication
  • Develop and nurture partnerships with relevant industry partners and cultural organizations.
  • Provide academic support to students as part of regularly scheduled office hours and regular electronic communication
  • Attend meetings, maintain records of student grades/assessments and participate in meetings and activities pertinent to faculty responsibilities
  • Program Coordinator duties as required including curriculum supervision, student recruitment and regular program reviews and updates
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.  Graduate credentials preferred (MA, MFA or PhD)
  • Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience teaching at the post-secondary level
  • Minimum 5 years demonstrated experience in the arts, museum and/or cultural management sectors
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies and other trends currently affecting the industry, especially in the GTA
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated capacity to work and lead in a collaborative environment
  • Demonstrated understanding of diversity, equity and inclusion to meet the needs of our diverse students, staff and college community
  • Demonstrated knowledge of adult education principles and the role of learning outcomes, instructional approaches and evaluation techniques to be used
  • Experience in developing course or learning materials is an asset
