Position Summary

Student Life, Engagement and Development

(This position is initially open to full time, bargaining unit employees of the college)

 

Reporting to the Manager, Co-Curricular Student Learning and Development, the incumbent is responsible for designing and facilitating targeted transition programming to equalize capital for equity-seeking students and their supporters in alignment with the student life cycle (in, through, out, and back to the College through PREP, START, STAY, and END Smart respectively). In partnership with the Manager, this responsibility includes all facets of planning, implementation, and assessment of associated programming, as well as the development and delivery of a marketing, media, and communications strategy to ensure adequate promotion and participant engagement. The incumbent will work closely with the Coordinator, Orientation and Transition Programs to ensure that Smart Transition Programs are highly aligned, and loosely coupled with the Experience Centennial: Orientation programming offered at the College for a seamless student experience and to ensure student needs are met in meaningful ways – including the development, facilitation, and advancement of online modules and participation on the College Orientation Coordinating Team (OCT). Given the intersectional identities of the student population, the incumbent will also work closely with other service areas across the College to leverage expertise and ensure continuity between programs.

Responsibilities  
  •  Responsible for all facets of planning, implementing and assessing of associated programming; including providing and communicating a final report after each Smart Transition Program cycle
  •  Partner with the Coordinator, Orientation and Transition Programs to ensure that Smart Transition Programs are highly aligned, and loosely coupled with the Experience Centennial: Orientation programming - including the development, facilitation, and advancement of online modules and participation on the College Orientation Coordinating Team (OCT)         Collaborate with Institutional Planning and Research, College service areas and Academic Schools, as well as community partners to identify and establish targeted participants for inclusion within, as well as support throughout, Smart Transition Programs
  • Develop and deliver a marketing, media, and communications strategy to ensure adequate promotion and participant engagement (including integration with the Experience Centennial mobile application)
  • Work with the Manager to maintain a mechanism for monitoring and evaluating participation and success outcomes across equity-seeking groups in order to target additional programming, and measure the success and impact of existing programming, that strongly contributes to levelling the playing field for these groups
  •  Liaise with Marketing and Communications to ensure online content is concise, accurate, and self-navigable in relation to the portfolio on the Centennial College website and social media channels
  •  Lead a student recruitment program (including call and email campaign) to promote Smart Transition Programs and encourage participation (students and their supporters where applicable)
  •  Partner with College service areas and community organizations to provide and deliver content as part of Smart Transition Programs that build student community, capacity, and confidence
  •  Design opportunities for ongoing engagement with Smart Transition Programs beyond individual events
  • Work with Community Outreach, Student Recruitment, and local high schools to recruit eligible participants for PREPSmart events (for equity-seeking students seeking to pursue post-secondary education at Centennial)         Apply for this job
